“BTR has always helped a steady stream of people to relocate to Australia and New Zealand,” says Sarah Huntridge of BTR International. “More recently, our move management and relocation support services have been requested by companies whose employees are leaving Australia for a UK destination. Our experts help with all the requirements involved with entering any global location, looking after assignees and their families with the utmost care and attention.”

UK Visa Requirements – Corporate Relocations

If you’re moving from Australia to the UK, you’ll need a visa, as well as a valid passport. A Senior or Specialist Worker visa allows you to come to or stay in the UK to do an eligible job at your employer’s UK branch. This is appropriate for most corporate relocations to the UK.

To qualify for a Senior or Specialist Worker visa, you must:

  • be an existing employee of an organisation that’s been approved by the Home Office as a sponsor
  • have a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ from your employer with information about the work you will do in the UK
  • do a job that’s on the list of eligible occupations
  • be paid at least £42,400 per year

If the above criteria are not met, a Skilled Worker visa may be appropriate. This allows you to come to or stay in the UK to do an eligible job with an approved employer.

To qualify for a Skilled Worker visa, you must:

  • work for a UK employer that’s been approved by the Home Office
  • have a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ from your employer with information about the role you’ve been offered in the UK
  • do a job that’s on the list of eligible occupations
  • be paid a minimum salary – how much depends on the type of work you do

In addition, you must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. You’ll usually need to prove your knowledge of English when you apply.

Visa Requirements – For Your Pet

Your pet is a much-loved member of your family. If you are offered a corporate relocation from Australia to the UK, what do you need to know?

“Each country has requirements that must be met when relocating to that destination with a pet,” explains Sarah. “As well as offering general tips about moving to a new country with your pet, we ensure that you meet the relevant border control needs.”

When moving to the UK from Australia with a dog, cat or ferret, you must ensure that your pet:

  • has been microchipped
  • has a pet passport or health certificate
  • has been vaccinated against rabies – it will also need a blood test if you’re travelling from a country that is not ‘listed’

In addition, dogs must usually have a tapeworm treatment.

You must also use an approved route and complete a declaration stating that you are not going to sell or transfer ownership of your poet whilst in the UK.
